BUT’TON® began with a question that kept coming up in a borrowed studio outside Chicago: why did dressing for work mean choosing between looking sharp and feeling comfortable? The first patterns were cut for fashion-forward young professionals who wanted a single outfit to carry a full day, not a closet of single-use pieces that only worked for one meeting.

Care labels read like fine print. Here is the practical version: how to wash, dry, and store the cashmere and wool blend knitwear, plus a straight answer on what our sizing charts can and cannot tell you before you order.
Cold water and a mild detergent made for wool or cashmere is the safest routine. Soak for about 10 minutes, press the suds through gently, and never wring or twist the knit. Roll the sweater in a clean towel to pull out water, then dry it flat away from heat and direct sun. Skip the dryer entirely – heat is what shrinks and mats the fiber.
Some pilling in the first few wears is normal on soft blends, and it slows after that. A sweater shaver or a fabric stone removes the fuzz without cutting the knit. Shape loss is mostly avoidable: dry each piece flat, fold it instead of hanging, and let it rest a day between wears so the fibers can recover.
Most pieces run XS through XL, with extended sizes in some collections. A size chart on each product page lists body measurements in inches. Dry cleaning makes more sense for structured, lined pieces where water can distort the shape. Cleaning too often also shortens fiber life, so airing a sweater out usually does the job.
A steamer, on both counts. Steam relaxes wrinkles in cashmere and wool blend knits without pressing a hot plate into the fiber, which flattens the loft and leaves a shine on the surface. Hold the steamer an inch or two off the fabric and work downward. Save the iron for cotton shirting and pressed trousers.
